Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the science of keyword use and placement.

There are many different ways to optimize a website for the search engines and they all are critical for visablity.

Each search engine, i.e. Google, and Yahoo, use their own respective algorithums to assign ranking. There are methods used to achieve desired rank based upon:

We have included to this site a few examples of what is involved in a full site optimization process. They provide a good start, but there are a girth of opportunities in the optimization process and what would work on site A, may not work the same for site B. Optimization is also more easily performed upon website conception. However, SEO happens to legacy websites* everyday.

A small part of the optimization process is the optimizing of the sites images using Photoshop or like Software. Even though this does not have that big of an impact, the World online is highly saturated and taking every advantage you can is not just helpful, it is needed.

During the optimization process there are places within the code that become optimal by adding your specific keywords. There are penalties that arrise in over use of keywords and placement.

Certain methods that some companies allow, if caught by a search engine crawler* that will get your site "banned" from the search results of a given search engine. CRAWLER - a crawler is a program designed by a given search engine to analize the code of a give website then deciding placement based upon report.

A part of a website is the Meta-Tags. The Meta-Tags are the basis of the website and should reflect such content.

Meta-Tags are not just "plug n play". There are strict restrictions on the use of Meta-Tags and they must be adheard to.
